The Iconic Art Project invites you to feast your eyes on meticulously hand-painted replicas of world-famous works by the likes of da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Monet, Renoir, Lautrec, Picasso, Van Gogh, and many more. This remarkable event promises to be an artistic experience like no other, unless, of course, you’ve had the privilege of standing before the originals themselves!
Rory Penland, Lake City native and founder of the Iconic Art Project, is on a mission to bridge the gap between art enthusiasts and the timeless treasures created by these renowned artists. Recognizing that not everyone has the opportunity to travel the world and witness these masterpieces in person, Rory is bringing the art to communities like Lake City, allowing residents and visitors alike to revel in the beauty and significance of these iconic works. He has spent the last 15 years meticulously collecting near-perfect replicas of famous works of art and framing them similarly to their genuine counterparts, so you’ll get as close to an authentic experience as possible when you view them, minus the long lines and entrance fees—this exhibit is free!
One of our objectives for bringing the Iconic Art Project to Lake City is to help spread awareness and appreciation of art in north Florida. To that end, we are offering lunchtime “mini art history tours” about 15-20 minutes in length, at noon every Tuesday and Thursday in October. Stop by on your lunch break and learn more about the pieces on display, their significance in the art world, where their originals reside, and hear fun facts and history about each piece! If you’re a part of a group or school and wish to enhance your experience, we offer the opportunity to schedule private tours as well. These tours can be tailored to your specific interests and educational objectives, providing a unique learning opportunity that will leave a lasting impression on students and art lovers alike.
